southpaw bbq is the mission’s answer to the recent trend of southern food/bbq that seems to have swept the bay. the interior features lots of antique lighting and storage features, exposed brick, lighbox framed photos, and an overall warm feel. the bar is long and plentiful, and the drink list solid. of the drinks we tried, the most unique was the honey bunny: red pepper, orange and carrot juice, agave and reposado mezcal . definitely unlike anything i’ve ever tasted.
was with the perfect group to try this place out. we ordered three of their meat plates (would have been all four but they ran out of chicken) and every side dish on the menu. i enjoyed all the meats equally, stand-out sides included the grits, mac n cheese, collard greens, and hush puppies.
